Background (job or experience to bring to the Governing Body): Currently a Strategic Manager for Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, responsible for early years and childcare services. I worked as part of the team who supported Layfield Primary in establishing the on-site Children’s Centre. My exper ience of supporting early years providers and Children’s Centres can hopefully bring some value to my role as Governor. I have a real commitment and belief that good quality early years provision can make a huge difference to a child’s start in life by improving their ability to learn and achieve once they’re in school.
Other (eg child at the school): Both children attended Layfield Primary in the late 1980’s and the early 1990’s and I have lived in the area for over 30 years.

Background (job or experience to bring to the Governing Body) : I have worked at Layfield for 13 years and have seen the school grow and change in many ways. I previously lived in the catchment area for more years than I would like to mention and have a good local knowledge and feel very much part of the local community. Previous to working at Layfield Primary School my other working roles have also had a strong focus on duty of care to the service user. I hold various qualifications including ones in a BA honours degree in Business Management and I am also qualified as an accounting technician. Both of my children attended Layfield Primary School and enjoyed their time here.

Governor for (number of years) : I have been a Governor at Layfield Primary School since about 1999.
Background (job or experience to bring to the Governing Body) : I have a lot of experience of being a governor and supporting Layfield Primary School. I have worked in Further Education as a senior manager and also have experience of running a successful business. I currently work in a Grammar School.

Background (job or experience to bring to the Governing Body) : I have worked for a number of multi-national manufacturing companies with positions in I.T, Finance and Business Planning. More recently I moved to a position working for a local authority in Adult and Children’s social care.
Other (eg child at the school) : The reason why I volunteered to be a governor was to help Layfield Primary become the best it can be. Whilst searching for a suitable school for my daughter, it soon became clear that Layfield has some unique selling points that separate it from the other primary schools in Yarm, especially the community ethos of the school that makes it such a special place to grow and learn

I’m a co-opted governor and I’m part of the School Improvement Committee, the Resources Committee, I’m the Parent Engagement Governor and the SEN/ G&T Governor.

I’m a TA at Layfield Primary School working in the Reception Class. I’m also a Childminder, these two roles compliment each other making the most of my experience and knowledge in the Early Years.
Other (eg child at the school) : Both my Daughters attended Layfield Primary School and now attend Conyers and Conyers Sixth Form. I childmind two children who attend Layfield Primary School.

Background (job or experience to bring to the Governing Body) :
After working in the education recruitment industry for over 10 years I now own my own supply teaching agency. On a day to day basis I am responsible for all of the background checks on teachers before we find them work in schools. I work with and visit many different schools across our region. The knowledge and experience I gain from this assists me in my role as a governor.

Community Governor
Governor for (number of years) : Since September2012, but was also a Governor at Layfield Primary School during the 1990’s.
Background (job or experience to bring to the Governing Body) : All my working life was spent in education. I am now retired, but work voluntarily in the community. I care passionately about young people and their futures.
Other (eg child at the school) : My daughter was a pupil at Layfield Primary School in the 1980’s and 1990’s and I hope there will be a place at the school for my grandchild (due to be born in 2013!).
Parent Governors Mr Paul Ovington

Background (job or experience to bring to the Governing Body) : I have over 24 Human Resources experience working for the Civil Service and the  Durham & Darlington Fire and Rescue Service.  As a Human Resources Manager, I have worked in Training, Recruiting and Supervisory roles which I hope will be of benefit to the school.  To be able to contribute in allowing a child to have an inclusive, safe and enjoyable education will be very rewarding.

  Mrs Alison Nicol

Governor for (number of years) : Since December 2015
Background (job or experience to bring to the Governing
Body) : After working in the Engineering sector, qualified as a Plater/Welder, I went on to study and qualify as a secondary school teacher in design and technology /engineering for 11 – 18 year olds and also apprenticeship students studying engineering. I have been a teacher for over 10 years teach ing GCSE ’s, BTEC, Diploma and NVQ’s. I have been a team leader and I now co-ordinate the engineering BTEC at the secondary school in which I work. I continually train to bring new techniques to the classroom and security in a child’s wellbeing. Amongst
other things I work as a leader on the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme for bronze, silver and gold.
