Professionally a chemical Engineer, having worked for more than 12 years in Production and Engineering roles for large multi-national companies. I have held a number of management positions and have experience of managing large projects, budgets and teams of people. I am also passionate about people development having worked to develop and improve Apprenticeship Programmes and also supported schools with STEM activities.

I’m a teacher at Layfield Primary School working in KS2. I am responsible for Science and DT and am passionate about the promotion of STEm subjects. I teach Forest School sessions across school.

After working in the education recruitment industry for over 10 years I now own my own supply teaching agency. On a day to day basis I am responsible for all of the background checks on teachers before we find them work in schools. I work with and visit many different schools across our region. The knowledge and experience I gain from this assists me in my role as a governor.

Community Governor  Mrs Jenny Holmes
Governor for (number of years) : Since September 2012, but was also a Governor at Layfield Primary School during the 1990’s.
Background (job or experience to bring to the Governing Body) : All my working life was spent in education. I am now retired, but work voluntarily in the community. I care passionately about young people and their futures.
Other (eg child at the school) : My daughter was a pupil at Layfield Primary School in the 1980’s and 1990’s and my grandchildren now attend.

Parent Governor Mrs Alison Nicol

Background (job or experience to bring to the Governing
Body) : After working in the Engineering sector, qualified as a Plater/Welder, I went on to study and qualify as a secondary school teacher in design and technology /engineering for 11 – 18 year olds and also apprenticeship students studying engineering. I have been a teacher for over 10 years teach ing GCSE ’s, BTEC, Diploma and NVQ’s. I have been a team leader and I now co-ordinate the engineering BTEC at the secondary school in which I work. I continually train to bring new techniques to the classroom and security in a child’s wellbeing. Amongst
other things I work as a leader on the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme for bronze, silver and gold.

Background (job or experience to bring to the Governing Body) : I have been a teacher for thirty years. During my time as a teacher, I have had the opportunity to be the Team Leader for various Year Groups. I have also taken an active role within the schools I have worked as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. During my career, I have always striven to embrace new developments, for example, I helped coordinate a successful European Project, liaising with colleagues from Italy, Spain and Portugal over a number of years.
